Guess what? I accidentally submitted a card for the Christmas card challenge on www.christmascardsallyearround.blogspot.com that didn't have any stamping on it. I just realized that today, so I have added some stamping onto the card and uploaded it today. Oh brother, too much excitement from the inauguration today!
Well here are 5 Christmas cards for the challenge at http://www.christmascardsallyearround.blogspot.com/ with a red and green theme. I love the challenge to make 5 cards per month so that you will have 60 by next Christmas! That will stop all of my last minute scrambling and maybe I will actually get my overseas cards to my friends by Christmas instead of New Year's. So here they are.
I will go over to their site right now and figure out how to link them up so that I can enter the challenge. Hope everyone has a great night! Talk again soon.
It's official - my craft room is getting a makeover!!!! The work will start next week and should take a few weeks to complete. The laundry room will be expanding into a small bit of the furnace room and everything in the laundry room and craft room will be fresh and new! I have to start thinking about colours, how exciting! So I have this week to do some cards and then most of my things will go away for a few weeks while I reluctantly study for my exam in the Accredited Financial Counselling Program. I took the first part of the exam last year and it was all about stocks, bonds, etc. This one is about actual hands-on counselling, which I have been doing for 12 years and went to university for, but it's always a good idea to have a refresher.
I will be posting some pics today for the Christmas Cards All Year Round challenge. I have one left to finish for January, which I will do today, as soon as I organize the closet in the family room. One more thing off of my to-do list.
My sweet husband is home today from work, he took a vacation day. His team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, have advanced to the Super Bowl and the game yesterday was amazing! I got right into it. Made a great football meal, mexican, mexican, mexican! Yum!
And I am so excited for tomorrow's inaguration of Barack Obama. I can't stop watching all of the coverage. I know that he will do an amazing job along with Joe Biden. Michelle Obama is one smart lady and will no doubt make her mark as well as First Lady.
Well, I better get busy on that closet so that I can go and stamp!
Great News!!! My craft room may be getting a facelift!!!! As in new drywall, carpeting, paint, ceiling, etc. I am so excited at the possibility!
My craft room is downstairs in our house next to our new fabulous front end loading washer and dryer. I am obsessed with the washer and dryer and can't stop doing laundry. The only thing it doesn't do is put the laundry away for us. So we have to work on that. I also find that I am really territorial about the washer and dryer. I won't even let my husband do any of the laundry! He does offer, but I just won't let him. Silly, eh? When we had the old washer and dryer I was all for him doing the laundry, but not now. I am sure that I will get over it and let him help. Eventually. Maybe.
The laundry area had to have a new wall put in when the washer and dryer were installed, so now with one new wall in the entire downstairs, the other walls are looking less than fabulous. See what happens when you do one thing in your house? It snowballs. And it has snowballed into my craft room, which is a VERY good thing. George bought me a beautiful flat screen tv for my room last year and I have everything organized and labelled so that I can actually find all of my supplies when needeed. That was a major undertaking and so rewarding. So now I can picture beautiful clean walls with lots of new storage space for all of my stamping and card-making goodies. Oh, I can't wait! Well, I better hear the estimate first before I get too excited.
It's a good time to be doing a reno of the craft room because I shouldn't be doing too much crafting right now. I should be studying because I have an exam in about 3 weeks for work. It's not nearly as exciting as stamping and crafting, but it will keep me in a job for now, which pays for my crafting addiction. So I better get working on it.
That being said, I still have to take some time for fun, so when I take my study breaks, I will be making cards. I have made a resolution this year.....and not one of the usual ones that I make (you know the one that I am talking about, it has to do with excercise). Well, this resolution has to do with participating in challenges from different sites. I have never done that before. I am so new to the blogging, that I am really getting fired up for the challenges. And it is such a wonderful way to share inspiration and ideas.
Well, back to the studying now. I want to get a few hours done so that I can reward myself with either beating my George in bowling on the Wii (teeeee heeeee) or making another card for a challenge.
Talk soon and hope that you all have a great day!!!
Here are a few pics of our sweet little great nephew, Bryson. He is just new in these pics and was born at the end of August. He is now four months old and adorable! As soon as I find the new pics from Christmas, I will post them as well.
Happy New Year! Well, we had a wonderful, quiet Christmas. Our nieces, aged 11, 9, 9, and 7, had a great time and were so hilarious! The word of the day on Christmas was 'awesomeness' whenever a present was opened. They were so excited! And our little great-nephew, who is four months old, was absolutely adorable on his first Christmas. He is such a good little baby and so beautiful. Our little girl Sydney, was so good at my sister-in-law's house. We brought little Syd into Caramel the cat's territory and there were no altercations. Caramel was so cute sitting on top of her climbing tower, just watching, very regal.
Everyone loved the cards that I made. The pics that I posted here don't show all of the dimensions to the cards, but when the cards were opened, people loved how the cards were all 3-dimensional.
I am going to start participating in the challenges for 'Christmas Cards All Year Around' and I will post their link on my blog. It is a really great site and if you do the challenge making 5 cards per month, you will have have 60 Christmas cards by next Christmas.
So have a great day and again, Happy New Year! May you have great health, tons of happiness, and lots of love around you in 2009.
I am an avid paper crafter and I love to make all kinds of greeting cards. I also scrapbook and sew. I am married to my amazing husband George and we have a beautiful little princess pug named Sydney Woo.
